While 2017 was a "lesser" vintage in Napa, it is still a good vintage and this is a great example.  Perhaps not quite the 16 or 18, it still provides lots of enjoyment.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose has cassis, cedar, spice and char.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, there is some depth.  Cassis with underlying char.  Nice finish.  Drinking well now, it should drink well for another ten years.  Nice on its own, this will work great with a burger off the grill.

This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the best grapes of the original estate vineyard planted in the late 1990's by Jean Bousquet.  Purple in color, ruby at the rime, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is tight and takes about an hour to open.  Cassis, figs, cedar and spice.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, cassis, anise, slight tobacco.  Well balanced.  Long finish with firm tannins.  Made from organic grapes.  This is drinking well but will improve with good cellaring.  Wait a few years then drink over the next eight to twelve years.  A nice match with grilled steak or ribs.

This is their non-designated base Cab.  A truly excellent bottle in its own right.  Purple in color, opaque and inky.  The nose has cassis, slight coffee, slight leather, and spice.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, this is delicious.  Not an over powering wine, but plenty of fruit and backbone.  Notes of cassis, char, slight coffee grounds and spice.  Clean.  Nice balance.  Long finish.  This is obviously young, but very enjoyable.  it should drink well for the next fifteen to twenty years.  Great on its own, this will work well with all but the lightest dishes.  It should wor

This showed better than the 1998 and at age 29, very nice.  It is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Cabernet Franc.  Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has cassis, tobacco, black cherries, spice and slight herbal note.  Full bodied.  Light tannins.  On the palate, this has juicy acidity.  Black cherries, some cassis, spice, char and slight tobacco.  Complex.  Long finish.  This is probably past peak, but really drinking well.  Drink over the next few years but it might go longer.  It will work well on its own, but will match well with roasted chicken.

What a nice surprise.  Really exceeded expectations on this one.  Purple in color, slight browning, opaque and bright.  The nose has cassis, dried currants, cedar and spice.  Full bodied.  Still some tannins left.  Well balanced.  On the palate, this is tasty.  Cassis with a Tootsie Roll® (sort of confectionary chocolate), and slight earthiness.  Nice sinewy texture.  Long finish.  This still has a nice freshness to it although it does show some age.  Drink over the next three to five years.  Nice on its own, this would stand up to a steak.  Of course, with bottles this old

This is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Cabernet Franc.  Ruby in color, with slight browning.  The nose has cassis, leather, black cherries, slight tobacco and slight cedar.  Full bodied.  Light tannins.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this has some complexity.  Nice cassis fruit with a bit of underlying tobacco.  Moderate finish.  This is past prime and should be consumed soon.  That said, it does have something to offer.  Better with food at this stage.  A nice wine with Brisket.

The 2005 vintage was excellent in Bordeaux and most are open and drinking well right now.  This wine showed wonderfully.  Ruby in color with some browning.  The nose is classic with cassis, char, tobacco, leather and cherries.  Medium bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, cassis and black cherries with some spice and a bit of dry earthiness.  Some complexity.  Nice texture.  Good finish.  This wine is just about at peak (or maybe a bit past).  Drink these sooner than later.  It will be better with food.  Beef stew with roasted root vegetables would be a nice match.

A new wine for me.  This is an Antinori project in Chile.  A blend of 81% Cabernet sauvignon and 19% Carmenere.  Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is nice with plums, black cherries, herbal notes and spice.  Medium to full bodied.  Light tannins.  On the palate, this drinks well.  Black cherry fruit with slight rosemary note.  A bit bitter and drying on the finish.  This should drink well for another five to eight years.  Good on its own, this will work well with heavier foods.  Lamb chops and mashed potatoes would be a nice match.

2017 was a challenging vintage between the heat, the rain and the fires, yet, many wineries were able to dodge those and make excellent wines especially in Sonoma.  This is one of the good ones.  It is also a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 18% Syrah added which appears to make a bit more accessible but also give it some depth.  Inky purple in color, thing ruby rim, opaque and bright.  The nose has cassis, black raspberries, clay, spice and slight cedar notes.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, this is a high energy wine with a lot going on.  Cassis, chocolate and slight underlyi
