This is Unoaked Chardonnay from the northeast corner of Ohio along Lake Erie. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is clean with slight green apples with a bit of wild herbs. Medium bodied. Crisp acidity. On the palate, the green apples carry thru. This is an easy drinking white wine that is nice on its own and would be nice with grilled Lake Erie Trout or other grilled fish. Drink over the next couple of years.
This is made using American Oak barrels. Medium golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has char, some lemon, dill and vanilla. Medium bodied. On the palate, this seems a bit disjointed. Hopefully it comes together with some age. Flavors of char, and a bit weedy, the fruit seems more to the back but lemon comes out on the finish. Probably better with food. Big flavors would help.
This is really a nice wine. This retails for $18 and that is a great value. Light golden in color with a swirl of green hues, clear and bright. The nose is nice with red apples, slight herbal note and nice minerality. Light to medium bodied but with a slight viscosity in the glass. On the palate, this is easy and refreshing. Flavors of apples with underlying minerality. Tasty. Very nice on its own, this will make great summer sipping on the deck with light foods. Drink over the next few years.
Ohio used to be one of the top winemaking spots in the US. While it no longer has the reputation it once had, there are some very good wines being made in Ohio. This is especially true for the whites and the dessert wines. Chardonnay, however, is not typically one of the more successful whites, but this is one of the best! Light golden/green in color. On the palate, the label calls this semi-dry but there isn't really a lot of sweetness going on. It is refreshing with some lemon-lime qualities. Easy to drink. This is food friendly and would work well with fried foods or popcorn. A fun wine for sitting outside at a winery listening to live music. Drink now.
