2022 Viña Almaviva S.A. Almaviva EPU, Chile, Puento Alto, Wine Review

In a recent tasting this seemed to be a love it or hate it wine among the tasters.  It is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Carménère, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.  Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is deep with black cherries, char, leather and thyme.  Full bodied.  The palate, is very ripe/sweet which seemed to be the distinguishing trait among tasters.  Cherries and black cherries with some underlying char.  Moderate finish.  it drinks well on its own and would work with meats or poultry with a BBQ Sauce based sauce to work with the sweetness of the wine.  it is still youthful so it will be interesting to see where this goes with some cellaring.  Drink over the next five to ten years.
