Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is smoky with minerals. Medium bodied. Light acidity. On the palate, some minerality and some orange peel. Long finish. A nice, easy to drink Riesling that will also work with most foods. Thai food will work well. Drink over the next five to eight years.
Golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has some diesel and schist along with a bit of lemon/lime. Full bodied. On the palate, tart lemons with an underlying minerality. It does seem like there is a slight residual sugar. Good acidity. This is a serious Riesling that should drink well for another ten to fifteen years (at least). This drinks well on its own but will work better with just about any food. It should be a nice match for Thai or Indian.
This is a Late Release of this wine. Green/gold in color. The nose seems to have good minerality but also some botrytis on it. Medium bodied. Moderate acidity. On the palate, there seems to be just a bit of residual sugar along with a nice citrus streak. A different sort of wine from this area. Long finish. This is enjoyable and would make a lovely aperitif. Drink over the next five to eight years.
Auslese is a German word meaning Selected Harvest. The grapes are late harvest grapes with high levels of sugar. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has a bit of diesel along with peach and slight apples. Light acidity but the wine is not cloying. On the palate, notes of white raisins, honey and peach with some minerality. Slightly sweet. Slight tropical fruits on the finish. This is delicious. It is great on its own and would work well with a not too sweet piece of (Austrian) pastry or cookie. Drink over the next ten to twelve years.
This wine continues to develop and improve although another few years isn't a bad idea. Medium golden in color, clear and bright. The nose opens initially with diesel but then clears a bit to show minerality, slight lemons and slighter peaches. Medium bodied, slightly oily texture. Complex and deep. A nice lemon candy note on the palate with underlying minerality. Long finish. This should drink well for the next ten to twelve years. It would be a nice match for spicy Asian foods.
