Another solid winner from Fred Scherrer.  This is made from vines up to  90 years old.  Scherrer Zins are not fruit bombs but more in the Claret style of Zinfandel wines.  Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, pomegranate, slight bramble, sandalwood and dust.  Medium bodied with nice balance and acidity.  On the palate, this has some depth and is quite tasty.  Black cherries, cherries, a touch of cranberries and spice.  Nice finish.  This is lovely on its own and even better with food.  A nice wine with Pizza especially with some basil and interesting cheeses.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
