This is Cot (Malbec), from its ancestral home, southwest France but also contains 5% Tannat. Cahors often offers great values in red wine. The Malbecs tend to be more "old world" than South America in the same sense than Bordeaux is more old world in style than Napa. Purple in color with a ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is earthy with plums and black cherries. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, this is tasty with plums and black cherries. Good finish. This is drinking well on its own but would be better with food. It would work well with beef but would also be a nice match with Roasted Cauliflower. Drink over the next seven to ten years. Great value.
