This is made from the Frappato grape in Sicily. Purple in color with ruby hues, mostly clear and bright. The nose is nice. Earthy and dusty with black cherries and slight boysenberries. Maybe also a bit of wild sage. On the palate, this has some serious tannins. Medium bodied. Boysenberries and a bit of plum with slight char. A good backbone of acidity. This is good but needs a bit of time. If decanting, give it at least six hours. It should drink well for the next seven to ten years. This will work well with roasted veggies. Caponata, a difficult pairing with eggplant, pine nuts and vinegar would work well here and help tame the tannins.
