This is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 5% Carménère, from the far west of the Colchagua Valley in the Peralillo DO. Gran Reserva in Chile means at least 12.5% abv and that the wine sees some oak. Deep ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is dusty with black cherries and a slight earthiness. Medium bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this is sweet especially on the attack. Flavors of black cherries, cassis, and a bit of anise. A hint of mint on the finish. This is drinking well now and appears to be at peak. Drink over the next few years. It is nice on its own but better with food. It would be a nice choice with Chili.
