2015 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese, Germany, Nahe, Wine Review

Another winner from the great 2015 vintage. Light silvery/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has great minerality with a slight peach note. Slightly viscous. Medium bodied. On the palate, this is sweet though not cloying. Great acidity to balance it off. Loads of minerality with some peach notes. This is more about minerals and "less is more". Complex. Long finish. This will continue to improve for another decade. It should drink well for thirty years. Great with a wide variety of foods (factor in the sweetness) but Thai food is a great choice.

Another of my favorite German producers and this is possibly my favorite of all of his wines. This was better than a bottle I had a couple of years ago. Light golden in color, with slight silvery hues, clear and bright. The nose is great with lots of minerality/"wet rocks" along with a touch of pineapple and some salinity. Medium bodied. Slightly viscous. On the palate, this is sweet. It is also deep and delicious. As it ages it will develop a complexity but lost some of the vibrancy. This is their basic Rielsing. it is a great value and while not at the level of complexity of their more expensive wines, it still provides a lot. Light silvery/gold in color with just a touch of green hues. On the nose, peaches, minerals and slight honeyed notes. Light to medium bodied. Slightly viscous. Slightly sweet but definitely sweet. Peaches with slight pineapple. Nice minerality. Good finish. This drinks easy and the bottle is soon finished. Drink over the next five years. It will work well with Thai or Indian foods.

Screw Capped. Light golden in color. Upon opening there are a slight amount of fine bubbles. It appears to be trapped CO2 which blows of quickly. No harm, no foul. The nose is great with green apples, slight wet rocks, slight lemon and simple syrup. On the palate, this has a fair amount of sweetness. Ripe fruit; citrus and peach. Good balance though. Gorgeous wine that is drinking quite well if still on the youthful side. Light golden in color. The nose is pretty with minerals, smoke, slight peach, slight floral tones. On the palate, this is medium bodied, slightly viscous. It has a bit of sweetness but not overt. The smoke and minerals come thru. Not quite "wet rocks", but minerality. Good acidity. Moderate finish. This will continue to develop but won't get better. It will last another ten to twelve years. A nice match for Thai food.
