2013 Bevan Cellars EE Cuvée Tench Vineyard, USA, California, Napa, Oakville, Wine Review

This is the first vintage that Russell Bevan bottled this on its own. It is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc. A spectacular wine. Inky purple in color with some ruby hues, opaque and bright. The nose is great with cassis, black cherries, tobacco, roasted meat, and spice. Full bodied. Medium to firm tannins. On the palate, this is complex and deep and delicious. Flavors of cassis, black cherries, spice and char. Long finish. Seems to be at or close to peak. Drink over the next ten to twenty years. It will need bigger food. Lamb (or other flavorful) Stew would work well.

This is a 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc blend from the Oakville District in Napa. The 2017 vintage is proving to be a good vintage if not great. That said Russell Bevan is a great producer which counts more than vintage. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with cassis, black cherries, slight cigar box, spice and char. Full bodied. Firm tannins. ON the palate, cassis, black cherries, cedar and chocolate. Showing a nice complexity but drinking quite well. Long finish. This is a blend of 53% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot. It is a delicious wine that is another label different from their Cabernet Sauvignon. Purple in color with some ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, dark chocolate, cassis, plums, cedar and baking spices. Full bodied. On the palate, lots of black cherry fruit with some purple fruit over char and spice. Firm tannins. Good energy. Nice finish. This is drinking well and will probably improve a bit, but either way should drink well for ten to twelve more years. It drinks well on

Nice to try this from a "lesser" vintage but with some nice age on it. It is in a very good place right now. It is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc. Expectations and hopes. Its hard not to have them but they do affect ones enjoyment of wine. This was an excellent wine but for whatever reason, vintage, cork, etc., was not up to expectations. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, spice and some cherries. On the palate, this is amazingly integrated and smooth. Cassis with some underlying spice. Not as deep nor complex as this wine can get in other vintages. That said, it drinks so easily, the bottle is drained quickly. I
