Purple in color. The nose has nice cassis, a bit of blueberries, spice and cocoa dust. On the palate, this is very good but lacks intensity. Lots of cassis fruit along with some chocolate. Good finish. This won't get any better but should be good for another ten years. Will work with medium and heavier foods.
It was great to try this wine again. The last bottle about a year ago was stunning and so was this one. The wine is opening up nicely if still young. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is excellent with cassis, blueberries, coffee grounds, spice and graphite. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Wonderful texture. Lots of energy and great balance. On the palate, cassis, coffee, blueberries and spice. Long finish.
So, after an amazing wine dinner with two other couples and my wife, we did the mistake of opening this. It was amazing but this just arrived a few weeks ago and really needs time. That said, it really was great, it just needs at least a few more years and really five to ten. Oh well, it was fun. Inky purple in color. The nose has cassis, pencil lead, tobacco, smoke and cedar. Wow. This wine is stunning and yet, still on the young-ish side. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is explosive with cassis, dust, mocha, and smoke. Full bodied. A seamless texture. Very firm tannins. On the palate, cassis, anise, dark chocolate and slight char. Long finish. This wine had some air prior to serving but still kept improving over the few hours we enjoyed it. Wow. An amazing wine. This is only sold in Magnums. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with cassis, iodine, graphite, slight earthiness, and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. For all of its power, however, this is not a bomb or monster wine. There is a lovely elegance to this as it expands to coat the palate.
