A really great wine. Inky purple in color. The nose has cassis, chocolate, char, slight camphor note and coffee. This is a rich, big wine. Delicious. Flavors of cassis, blueberries with slight chocolate over spice and char. Juicy acidity. Medium tannins. Long finish. This needs about 5 to seven more years until peak and then should be great for ten to twenty more years. It will work with big foods like steak or roasts.

This is a really big wine, but it has that lightness and deftness that belie its size. Great velvety texture. On the palate, cassis, coffee, blueberries and spice. Long finish. Delicious. It is still young and will no doubt be a 100 point wine in a few years. No harm opening now, but waiting three or four years will be rewarded. Drink over the next twenty years. It was great to try this wine again. The last bottle about a year ago was stunning and so was this one. The wine is opening up nicely if still young. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. Inky purple in color. The nose is gorgeous. Cassis, violets, cedar and graphite. Very concentrated. On the palate, this starts out tight but opens in the glass. Juicy fruit. Black raspberries and blueberries. Firm tannins. Very concentrated, this will benefit from at least five years of cellaring. It has two decades left. Long finish. This needs big food right now, and give it plenty of air. That said, it is drinking just great from a deliciousness point of view!
Inky purple in color. This is very tight (pop and pour). Unlike a lot of 2012's, this needs some air or cellar time. The nose is nice with cassis, graphite, vanilla and spice. Full bodied. Lush and big. On the palate, black currants, black pepper, sandal wood and slight earthy forest floor notes. Good balance. Long finish. Kept improving. Great now, but with upside. Probably anothe 10 years to peak and good for a couple more decades. Prodigious wine.
