Inky purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with cassis, graphite, dark chocolate and cigar box. Full bodied. Tannins mostly resolved but a few hanging around. This is complex and layered and unwinds beautifully in the glass. Notes of cassis, black cherries, and underlying earthiness. Good acidity. Good finish. This seems at or just past peak, but drinking well. The vintage was a bit difficult but there is no lack of ripeness. Drink up. This will be better with food. It would work well with beef stroganoff.

This bottle had been opened at 9:00 am for serving around 7:00 pm. It wasn't enough, so it got decanted around 6:30. Still was quite tight so it was left to sit in the glass for another hour where it eventually opened up. This bottle needs time. A 24 hour decant might not be out of line at this point. This is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. Spectacular showing for this bottle. Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, spice, slightly earthy along with some leathery notes. Full bodied.

Purple in color. The nose has cassis, tobacco, it is slightly dusty and cedar. On the palate, this still has some tannins left and plenty of fruit but is fully mature. Cassis with some black olives. This seems like a good bottle. There is a nice complexity to it. Very smooth. Very food friendly. Blind, i think most people would guess mature Bordeaux. Of course, with a wine of this pedigree, there is always a lot of anticipation, but I think this is probably the wine producers were trying to make back in 1997. It succeeds at that if a very different wine from most 1997's.

This is a blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Franc made by Thomas Rivers Brown. Pop and pour, this took about twenty minutes to start opening and then drink very well. Purple in color with a ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cherries, black cherries, baking spice, slight chocolate, a hint of iron and roasted herbs. Full bodied although certainly not over the top. Rich texture. On the palate, this has firm tannins that integrate somewhat with air. This is still a bit young but rounding into peak form and almost there. With a bit of air, this is drinking quite well. A blend of 95% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot. Purple in color. The nose is great with black cherries, leather, cigar box, slight dark chocolate, cherries and slight spice. On the palate, this has a lush but firm texture. Lots of energy.
