Purple in color. Ruby at the rim. THe nose is pretty tight. A bit of plums and spice. On the palate, this is soft and easy drinking. Black cherries. One dimenstional. $17.
This comes from southwestern Sardinia and is made from the Carignan grape. The name Buio means dark. The wine is a deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, some black raspberries along with salinity and wild thyme. Medium bodied. Good acidity. On the palate this has black cherries with roasted herbs, char and some minerality. Good finish. This is nice on its own but better with food. It worked nicely with a selection of cheeses and olives. Drink over the next few years.
Served blind. Light golden in color with a touch of copper color making me think Pinot Grigio. The nose is nice with lots of minerality. Also dust, apples and some initial sulfur notes (which blew off). Slightly oily texture. Medium bodied. A fair mount of oak showing but it somehow works. On the palate, limes and apples. Good acidity. This is an excellent winery with good values. Drink over the next few years. This will work on its own or with a pasta with a cream sauce.

The wine is purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with black cherries, dried cherries, cigar tobacco, spice and slight char. Full bodied with medium to firm tannins. On the palate, cherries, black cherries with som
This is made from the Aglianico grape in Basilicata (the arch of the boot), Italy. 15% abv. Purple in color with garnet swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, anise, smoke and spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Moderate acidity. On the palate, black cherries, cherry liqueur, slight bitter cherry note and spice. Long finish. At age 6, this still seems young as it improved greatly when tasting it on day 2. This drinks well on its own and will work well with food. A nice wine with a hearty Lasagna. Drink over the next ten years.
