2020 Cantina Terlan Pinot Grigio Tradition, Italy, Alto Adige, Wine Review

Served blind. Light golden in color with a touch of copper color making me think Pinot Grigio. The nose is nice with lots of minerality. Also dust, apples and some initial sulfur notes (which blew off). Slightly oily texture. Medium bodied. A fair mount of oak showing but it somehow works. On the palate, limes and apples. Good acidity. This is an excellent winery with good values. Drink over the next few years. This will work on its own or with a pasta with a cream sauce.

Pinot Grigio: Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige Region Produces a Great Summer Sipping Wine

Summertime. For many of us that is the time for a cool white wine. Of course many of them are produced in Italy. One of the more commercially successful whites is the Pinot Grigio from Italy. Specifically, those produced in the north-eastern province of Trentino-Alto Adige. Surrounded the Alps and Dolomites, and bordering Austria and Switzerland, this is the northern most region in Italy. The area is mountainous with only about 15% of the land being farmable.

Green/gold in color (not the typical copper notes). The nose is nice with minerals and limes. Slightly oily texture. This is all about minerals on the palate. Slightly sour lime note. There is a bit of warmth but only 12.5% Alc. Very food friendly with all but the heartiest of foods. At $10, this is a great value. Drink now.

Do you like affordable, easy drinking white wines? Then look for this one. This is authentic and as good as wine costing twice the price. Will it blow your doors off? Probably not, but for $15, you will have no regrets. Food friendly or on its own. Light copper gold in color. The nose is great with minerals, mountain air (think cold and fresh) and a hint of lemon peel. On the palate, this is refreshing. Slightly more than lean texture. Made for drinking young. Lots of verve. Good finish.

This is a lovely Pinot Grigio from Sicily. It comes in a tinted green clear bottles, but the wine is silvery copper/gold in color. On the nose there is a nice steeliness to it along with some limes. With air, a bit of chalk emerges. Nice acidity with a slightly oily texture. On the palate, this is dry. Notes of lemons and wintergreen. Slight tannins. The finish has sour lemon candy. This is a big wine with some warmth to it. Very refreshing on its own but worked better with a Watermelon, Feta and Mint salad. This comes in an attractively shaped stout clear bottle with a greenish hue. The wine is light straw, clear and bright. The nose is deep with peaches, floral notes, and slight tropical fruits. Medum bodied. On the palate, this has a nice acidity. More about minerality but peach comes thru on the finish. This drinks well on its own but will work better with food. It should drink well for the next few years. A nice wine with sea food but this will work well with pasta, too. This is a great value in Pinot Grigio! 12% a.b.v.
