Purple in color. The nose is mature with cigar and cherries (fresh and dried). On the palate, this has nice layers. Cherries, slight dark chocolate and dried leaves. Complex. Seems to be at peak. These should be drunk sooner than later at this point. It won't get better and might start its downward slide. That said, a really nice Merlot right now.
This is made from Tempranillo. Ruby/purple in color. The nose is dusty with black cherries. On the palate, the black cherries carry thru. A slight dill note. Still firm tannins. Nice finish. This is still young at 14 years from vintage and certainly seems to have some upside. It is a big, forward wine but a bit still in the shell. If drinking now, give it a nice decant.
Inky purple in color, bright. On the nose there is nice black raspberry fruit with black pepper. On the palate, this is a big, fruity wine. Lots of black raspberry fruit. Slight mineral backbone. Deep but tight. I think a few more years of cellaring will bring out even more of its potential. Although it drinks cooler climate, it is a big wine. Nice texture. Long finish.
Purple/ruby in color. The nose has dark cherries and spice. On the palate, the dark cherries follow. Cooler climate Cab in style. A bit under ripe. Some heat on the finish. Overall, it is a decent but not great cab. Around $45.
Ruby/purple in color. The nose has black cherries, spice, black raspberries, violets and bacon. On the palate, this is mature and complex. Layered, it unwinds in the glass. Black cherry fruit, black raspberries, some earthiness and spice. Nice texture. Wispy tannins. Good balance. Long finish. No hurry, but I don't think it improves from here.
Purple/ruby in color. The nose has black raspberries and slight bacon fat. On the palate, cranberries and black cherries. Slightly sour notes. Light tannins. This is a great wine to fool people in a blind tasting. After all, who is going to guess German Syrah? At around $30, this is not crazy priced either. Nothing amazing here but it is a solid, cooler profile Syrah.
Deep golden in color. The nose has a diesel note but also a honeyed quality to it. On the palate, this is sweet enough for dessert. Minerals and also some apricots. Ok aicidity. Drinking well now but with time left.
Salmon orange in color. A nice mousse with small to medium bubbles. The nose is very nice with strawberries and light lemon notes. There is a nice depth to this wine although it turns a bit flabby on the palate. Given that this sells for under $20, that isn't the worst thing in the world. It is tasty and makes a nice inexpensive but festive sparkler.
Light yellow in color. The nose is gorgeous with lemon cream notes. Slightly oily texture. Young but already showing a deep complexity. Lemon cream notes with an interesting slight mint note on the finish. There is some oak here, but it is integrated beautifully. This should age well for a decade, probably two. There is some upside potential.
My first time trying this house. Golden in color, somewhat deep. Nice mousse with lots of small bubbles. The nose has toast and lemons. Nice. On the palate, there is a crisp acidity. Lemon fruit. Not much in the way of complexity though. Just kind of there. I was told this is around $50.
