The Rare Wine Co.'s Historic Madeira series is an excellent way (and affordable) to sample different styles of Madeira. This one is iced tea in color. Partially opaque and bright. The nose is great with orange peel, slight red berries, and toffee. Full bodied. Viscous. On the palate, this is sweet but enough flavors and acidity to cut through. Long finish. This drinks very well now and should basically last forever. Another nice feature is that you can open a bottle and drink over the next month, or year. No hurry. This is great on its own and would work well with less sweet/more savory desserts.
