This turned out to be the group favorite in a tasting of ten New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Silvery gold in color. The nose has nice grapefruit notes. On the palate, this has a nice oily texture. Good minerality. Lively acidity and a solid finish. It drinks easy on its own and will go with seafood and lighter foods. Priced well, this provides lots of pleasure for a reasonable cost for those who like this style.
It was nice to revisit this icon which really started the whole New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc industry. The truth is, however, this no longer sets itself apart from the pack except for the pricing. Pale silvery/gold in color. The nose is lemony and tart. Those characteristics carry thru to the palate. Nice acidity. Solid finish. This is a very good wine that will work with lighter foods and seafood.
A pretty classic version of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. For those looking for this, and there are many fans, this is a well priced alternative to many of the standards that have risen in price over the last decade. Light golden in color. The nose has gooseberries or maybe passions fruit (I need to visit a grocery store and compare the two). Slightly oily texture. Tart gooseberries on the palate. A bit metallic on the finish. Wow, this was one of the better Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand that I have had in a while. Blind, I would have guessed this to be from the Loire Valley. Light gold in color. The nose has nice white grapefruit with a nice minerality. Those qualities contiue thru to the pa;late. It is ripe but well within reason. Excellent acidity. Long finish. My only complaint? I tried to buy some and was unable to find any.
