This is a relatively affordable Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Light silvery gold in color. The nose has lots of yellow grapefruits. Slightly oily texture. More yellow grapefruits on the palate. Good acidity. Good finish. This drinks easy on its own and will work well with lighter foods. It should be drunk in the next couple of years.
Flora Springs make a variety of wines. This is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Crossroads Vineyard in Oakville in Napa. It is silvery/green/gold in color. The nose is very nice with lemon-lime, sweetgrass and minerals. It has a very nice, slightly oily texture. Just a hint of residual sugar offset by tart limes.There is a slight chalky quality as well. Overall, this is very clean and refreshing. It has a long finish with some warmth. It would actually work well with grilled asparagus, always a tough food pairing, and lots ot lighter foods or on its own. Drink this over the next year.
Screw capped. Pale silvery/green/gold in color. The nose is a mythical combination of New Zealand and old school California. That is to say, lots of tropical fruits (guava and pineapple) and also a grassiness to it. Very pleasant and easy. On the palate, this is medium bodied. The tropical fruit carries thru. Nice acidity to counter. Dry. Slightly oily texture (a good thing). Long finish. This is an easy drinking wine, but has some depth. Works with lighter and medium bodied foods. Made with Estate grown fruit. Light green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with limes, green apples and a touch of lemon. Medium bodied. Nicely balanced. Refreshing. On the palate, limes are the forefront with a touch of lemons on the finish. This is easy drinking but has some substance. It drinks well on its own and will work well with lighter foods. A nice summer lunch wine. Drink over the next couple of years although it is a bit past prime already.
This is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (44%), Chardonnay (41%), Malvasia (10%), and Pinot Gris(5%). The name comes from a proprietary clone of Sauvignon Blanc that Flora Springs utilizes in the Crossroads vineyard. It is an interesting white that really needs some air when opening. Silvery/green in color with pale yellow/gold. On opening the oak is dominant and that did not work well. Of course, this is just being released and that will cure itself.
