Light salmon pink in color. The nose is nice with strawberries. On the palate, this is very refreshing. Lively strawberry fruit. Good texture. Fresh. Easy drinking but even a bit more.

A blend of Syrah, Carignane and Grenache. I could find no vintage designation on the label (so its probably there in extra large font ;-) ) A very nice value wine. Purple in color. Black raspberries, pepper, cherries and plums. Also some spice. On the palate, this is medium bodied. Very tasty. Easy drinking. Some complexity as well. Good finish. Nice value but more than that.

Purple/ruby in color. The nose has dark cherries. On the palate, more like black raspberries. Slight tannins. Tart acidity. Should be great with food. Good value.
All Rosés Lead to Southern France
It’s hot. The Fourth of July witnessed blistering temperatures around California, and this time the Bay Area was no exception. In my last column , I bemoaned the cool temperatures that typically beset the San Francisco metropolitan area in June and July and used the unseasonable chill as an excuse to explore one of the heavier wine regions of France, the syrah-saturated Northern Rhône. But our recent string of 75-plus-and-sunny days shows my pessimism to be ill-advised.

A very nice value in sparkling wine. This is a blend of Chardonnay (70%), Chenin (20%) and Pinot Noir (10%). Pink in color. A nice mousse of medium sized bubbles. On the nose a bit of strawberries and a bit or orange peel. On the palate, orange peel including a bit of bitterness along with some orange citrus. Slight strawberry note. This is a fun aprkler with enough acidity to work at the table. Good finish.

Ruby/Purple in color. The nose is dusty with boysenberries. This is easy drinking Syrah. Lots of black raspberry fruit. Not a lot of depth. Quite tasty with good fruit.
