Beautiful wine. This is a proprietary blend from one of Napa's top producers. Bettina is the name of the owner's wife. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cassis, chocolate, slight coffee, dust and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Nice balance. On the palate, this is more on the elegant/Bordeaux style of Napa. Cassis, black cherries, leather, and coffee with some underlying char. Lively. Long finish. This is drinking well and should continue for another fifteen to twenty years. Nice on its own, this will work with bigger foods such as Prime Rib.

This is a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot. One of the great Bordeaux varietal wines. This is till young, but really drank beautifully. Purple in color with a ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, tobacco, licorice, spice, thyme and char. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great, juicy texture. On the palate, this has some tight complexity. Flavors of cassis, leather, tobacco, spice and char. Long finish. This is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is expressive with cassis, black cherries, dark chocolate and slight coffee. Full bodied. Rich texture with great balance. Medium tannins. On the palate, this is complex and layered. This is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright. The nose is great with cassis, blueberries, cedar, spice and char. Lush, velvety texture but lots of vibrancy. On the palate, cassis and blueberry fruit with underlying tobacco and char. Long finish. This is still developing and will be for a decade. That said it is delicious now and will continue to drink well for another fifteen to twenty years. It drinks very well on its own and will work with bigger, fattier foods such as prime rib or a roasted veggie pizza.

This is a Merlot dominant Napa Red proprietary blend from Oak Knoll. Really an impressive wine. Inky purple in color with a thin ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is tight (it is young) but with some air, black cherries, cherries, and milk chocolate emerge. With a bit more air, there is also cedar, cassis and slight sandalwood and dust. It took a few hours to full open up without any decanting. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, black cherries, cassis, plums, over a char and slight tobacco. Long finish. Realm is one of our favorite wineries and The Bard may be our favorite (so hard to choose) especially considering price. This is an expensive wine, but for the quality, this is a great wine. It is a Cabernet based blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Petite Sirah . Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright.
