This winery really stepped it up after the first couple of vintages and are producing some great wines. Deep purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, graphite, slight cedar and baking spices. Full bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this is juicy with great cassis fruit. A bit of underlying graphite and char. Some complexity but more delicious than contemplative. Nice finish. This would match well with roasted or grilled meats or veggies but worked great with vegetarian chili. Drink over the next ten to twelve years.

This is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec. Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is lovely with cassis, cedar, black cherries, slight dried tobacco, spice and an interesting menthol note. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. Cassis, black cherries, spices and graphite. Lovely texture. Long finish. This is young but drinking well. It is great on its own and would work well with roasted meats and/or root vegetables. It will still improve. Drink over the next twenty years.

This is a blend of 53% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot. It is a delicious wine that is another label different from their Cabernet Sauvignon. Purple in color with some ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, dark chocolate, cassis, plums, cedar and baking spices. Full bodied. On the palate, lots of black cherry fruit with some purple fruit over char and spice. Firm tannins. Good energy. Nice finish. This is drinking well and will probably improve a bit, but either way should drink well for ten to twelve more years. It drinks well on

A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc. This was pop and pour and is, of course, young and really needs time or a decant. That said, it is just an incredible wine! Inky purple in color, shimmering bright and opaque. The nose has cassis, cedar, blueberries, chocolate and slight spice. Full bodied. Lovely velvety yet sinewy texture. Medium tannins. No winery is more synonymous with Napa Valley than Robert Mondavi. And while they make all sorts of wines and at all sorts of price points, this is the one that epitomizes the winery. Somehow, they straddle the line between old and new, corporate yet having a sense of place, and making a wine that is affordable and good value for the quality. Nice to try this from a "lesser" vintage but with some nice age on it. It is in a very good place right now. It is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, tobacco and a slight herbal notes. Also a but of spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, cassis with underlying char.
