No, not that Lafite. It's Lafitte with two "t"s. It is hard to find any information about this estate, but the wine was good. Purple in color if a bit flat. Mostly opaque. The nose has cassis and spices. Medium bodied. Bright acidity. Nice texture. On the palate, nice cassis fruit turning a bit tart on the finish. It drinks well now and should be nice for another three to five years. It is nice on its own and will work with food such as Roasted chicken.

Pop and pour, this is drinking very well. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with cassis, black cherries, tobacco and spice. Full bodied. On the palate, this has nice tight layering that unwinds in the glass. Light tannins. Notes of cassis, black cherries, slight chocolate, and char. Great balance. Long finish. Still a bit on the young side but no harm in opening a bottle. This will drink well for another ten to fifteen years. Great on its own, even better with food. Pot roast would be a great choice.

Another example of what great value there is in Bordeaux once one gets away from the classified growths. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with black cherries, plums, spice and char. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this has some depth. Notes of cherries, black cherries and black raspberries with some spice and a bit of earthiness. Nice finish. A very pleasant wine that is better with food. Excellent showing for this wine. It is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot aged for 12 months in new oak. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is tight but opens to show cassis, baking spices, vanilla, and slight char. On the palate, black cherries with some spice. A bit of menthol on the finish. Firm tannins. Plenty of depth and some complexity shows as it unwinds in the glass. Long finish. This needs a couple of years to fully mature. This house seemed to really nail it with this vintage. It should drink well for ten to twelve more years at least. A nice match with a

According to the label, this is 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Malbec. It is a biodynamic wine. Ruby/purple in color if a bit flat. The nose is nice with cedar, cherries, and a slight char. Firm tannins. A bit thin on the body. Black cherry fruit with low acidity. Moderate finish. This is a nice inexpensive Bordeaux for drinking over the next few years. It the fruit holds out, perhaps even longer. Better with food. This would be nice with meatloaf or a burger.

What a treat to drink. This is a fascinating vintage. After some less than great years, this looked like it could possibly be exceptional and the Bordeaux hype train got into gear. Despite many fans who kept saying just be patient, it never took those last few steps. That said, it also has so much to offer. The wines can be austere, but they also are complex and fascinating.
