This is the second wine of Château Tour Baladoz. It is produced made from the youngest vines and consists of 90% Merlot. Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries, slight milk chocolate and spice. Full bodied. On the palate, there are light tannins. The cherries and chocolate come thru with slight earthiness. Nice finish. Not profound but tasty and easy drinking. Drink over the next five to ten years. This drinks well on its own and would be a nice match with stuffed peppers.
Some real value here. Probably one to loof or in 2015/2016. The 09 was purple/ruby in color. The nose has spice and dark cherries. Very soft, accessible and seeming at peak but not past. A very pretty wine and true to Margaux. Light tannins. Some cassis and some dark cherries on the palate. Nice finish. food friendly.
What a treat to try this. It has been difficult finding anything out about the wine. Apparently it is from a small vineyard that is planted on its original root stocks and over 100 years old. They make a regular wine but this wine is limited to two barrels and is quite expensive. Luckily, a good wine buddy opened this for one of our tasting groups. It is very rare indeed. Purple in color. The nose has plums, smoke and dark cherries. Very tight on the nose but with air it opened. On the palate, it is incredibly concentrated. Dark cherries with a great texture. Ripe but tight. Ver
Another new winery for me. This was quite good. A blend of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. Deep ruby in color with purple swirls. Great nose of cherries, black cherries, floral notes, and spice. Clean. On the palate, this is medium bodied and quite concentrated. Black cherries and cherries over a clean spice and earth. Nice balance. Good finish. This still needs three to five years to maturity and should be good for ten after that. It worked well with vegetarian chili.
Purple/ruby in color, slightly flat. The nose seemed a bit off, perhaps storage. It had a bit of aquarium going on. Yet, there is also some black cherries and a bit of minerality. On the palate, this is much better. A pretty backbone of acidity. Nice fresh cherry fruit. Slight tannins. Some complexity. Long finish. This is drinking about where one would expect at age 9. It won't get better but should be at peak for the next five to seven years. This will work with most meat or fowl based dishes or roasted veggies too.
