In a recent tasting of Cru Beaujolais, this was my top rated wine. It is a big wine, but has the structure to hang the fruit on and everything is in proportion. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright. Great nose. Some oak showing but not overbearing. Cherries, black cherries, dark chocolate, slight spice and even a floral tone. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. Black cherries, cherries, a bit of anise and dark chocolate. Long finish. This drinks great on its own, but will work well with most foods. It would be a nice choice with a C
This is a very nice wine, but for me (your mileage may vary), this is not what I am looking for in Beaujolais. Garnet in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, baking spices, slight coffee notes and a bit of citrus. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, bold cherry fruit with spice and slight dark chocolate. Long finish. This drinks well on its own, but would be better served with a steak. Drink over the next seven to ten years.
Nice showing for this wine. This is made with semi-carbonic maceration (according to the importer). Garnet in color with some purple swirls. The nose has cherries and strawberries along with some floral notes. Very pretty. Lovely texture. Firm tannins. Nicely balanced. On the palate, cherries with some dark cherries. This is nice on its own and very food friendly. It would go well with (vegetarian) chili. Drink over the next eight to ten years.
Stunning wine on its own, but then thinking this was a ten year old Beaujolais that cost $30 on release. Wow. Deep, deep garnet in color. The nose is tight at first as this wine is still young. As it opens, beautiful black cherries, slight sandalwood and just a hint of dry forest floor. On the palate, a gorgeous silky yet voluptuous texture. Black cherry fruit with great balance. Layers of fruit, and dry earth. An insanely long finish. There are even slight tannins still showing. This may yet improve a bit but it is fantastic now. It easily has another decade left in it. Delicio
What a gorgeous wine. Blind, I would probably guess a very good Burgundy at about 10 years old. Deep ruby in color. The nose is very nice with some funk on it. Loads of cherries with some darkness to them. Spice. On the palate, the texture is really a highlight. Silky yet burly. Loads of black cherries on the palate. It unwinds in the glass to show layers of damp earth with fruit. Long finish. This will easily do another decade and probably more but I am not sure if gets better. And it is so good right now. It will go with any food Pinot Noir works with.
