2009 Kutch Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard, USA, California, Sonoma Coast, Wine Review

Jamie Kutch tends to make very elegant Pinot Noir's.  Ruby in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with cherries, cherry cough drops, slight sour cherries and slighter cola.  Medium bodied.  Light tannins.  Nicely balanced.  On the palate, this seems fully mature.  Some depth and complexity.  Good finish.  This is drinking very well and seems about at peak.  It  should be at this level for at least another five years.  It is very nice on its own and will work well with the right foods.  This would be a nice pairing with grilled Salmon.

This is made by a private wine club in northeast Ohio using purchased grapes.  Pale yellow gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with grapefruit, a  touch of grass, and slight gooseberry.  Light to medium bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this is refreshing.  A touch grassy and a bit of gooseberry comes thru.  Moderate finish.  This is nice on its own and will work well with lighter foods.  A nice choice for Chicken or Tuna Salad.  Drink over the next few years.

Nice to be able to try this at this age.  I had my concerns but it is drinking nicely.  Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has sour cherries, slight cherries, slight black olive and spice.  Medium bodied.  Tannins resolved.  On the palate, this is fully mature.  Nice black cherry fruit.  Moderate finish.  This is nice on its own but will be better with food.  It will work well with Roasted chicken or Root Vegetables.  Drink up.
