From a difficult vintage, this was outstanding.  Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose has cassis, black cherries, black olives, spice and slight graphite.  Medium to full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, cassis, black cherries with some underlying earthiness.  Great acidity.  Long finish.  This is complex but needs some air to unwind.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.  Great on its own, but this will be better with food (but let it breather for a while prior to serving).  This would be great with lamb, of course, but a smoky, black bean burger would be very nice

Impressive showing for this classic Napa wine.  Inky purple in color and shimmering bright.  The nose is big with black raspberries, blueberries, black olives, and spice.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, cassis, coffee, blueberries, spice and char.  Deep but tightly wound.  It unwinds in layers in the glass.  Long finish.  Just a fantastic wine that is just beginning to show some maturity.  Holding for another decade will be rewarded but drinking now is great as well.  Drink over the next twenty years.  Great on its own, it will need bigger food.  While Prime Rib would be classi

An interesting designation of "Low Calorie" which is part of the Sustentia lineup of low calorie, low alcohol wines.  This comes in at 9% abv.  Silvery/gold in color with some green hues.  The nose has a nice "wet rock" quality with a slight pineapple note.  Medium bodied.  Crisp, tart acidity on the palate.  Nice yellow grapefruit notes and long with a touch of Lemon Drop candies.  Good finish.  It is very nice on its own, but really needs food to go along with the acidity.  This would work nicely with seafood.  Drink over the next few years.  It will be interesting to see how well this li

This is 100% Malbec grown on its own roots.  The wine is aged 10 months in tank and ten months in bottle and sees no oak.  Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose has plums, black cherries, cloves, and cherries.  Full bodied.  Lush texture.  Firm tannins.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this is concentrated with lots of depth.  Flavors of plums and black raspberries.  Long finish.  It kept opening up all evening as I sampled it.  This really needs a few more years in the cellar but will be worth the weight.  Hold for three to five years and drink for ten to fifteen after that.  Ni

Inky purple in color, opaque and slightly flat.  The nose is tight initially, but opens with air to show boysenberries, roasted herbs and spices.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, there are black cherry flavors along with some spice.  With air, plums come out.  An interesting root beer note on the finish.  Also, some warmth.  This is young but delicious now.  No harm opening now, but it should improve with a couple years in the cellar.  Drink over the next ten years.  This would go well with stuffed acorn squash and of course, meat dishes.

Great showing for this wine.   Screw capped.  Pale, silvery gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose has nice floral tones (white flowers?) along with a bit of peaches. Light bodied but with a round, sort of viscous texture.  Good acidity.  Crisp.  On the palate, lots of minerality, some peach, and slight pink grapefruit.  Moderately long finish.  There is a perception of sweetness but it is not sweet.  This drinks great on its own and will work well with lighter foods but also Thai or "Take-out" Chinese.  Drink over the next few years.  Excellent value.

This is a blend of 67% Pinot Blanc and 33% Malvasia from California.  It comes in a 250ML "Juice Box" that retails for $15 per 4 pack.  Pale golden in color.  The nose has some yellow grapefruit juice notes.  Light bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, the tart yellow grapefruit notes come thru.  A bit bitter on the finish.  This is much better than its red counter part.  The packaging should protect the wine well over the next year or two.  It is a good choice around a pool on a hot day.

This is a 250ML "juice box" of 100% Merlot from California.  It retails for $15 per four pack.  Ruby in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose has cherries, and confectionary sugar.  Light bodied.  No tannins.  On the palate, this has sour cherries.  Moderate acidity.  Short finish.  The packaging is cool for those trying to take wine next to a pool or someplace glass bottles are not allowed.  These boxes should hold the contents well but probably should be consumed sooner than later.  This would probably make a nice base for a Sangria, etc.

This is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec from Paso Robles coming in at 13.8% abv according to the label.  Purple with ruby hues, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has black cherries, green bell peppers and a slight celery seed note.  Light to medium bodied with medium tannins.  On the palate, nice black cherry fruit.  This is an easy going red wine that is a nice value.  It drinks well on its own and would be a nice wine with burgers off the grill.  Drink over the next few years.
