This is the first vintage of this barrel aged Reserva red which joins the value lineup of wines from Monte Velho. It is a blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira, Syrah and Touriga Nacional that sees about 8 months in barrel. Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries, some spice and slight tea leaves. Medium bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this drinks easy. Flavors of cherries, slight plums and slight spice. Good finish with a slight bitter cherry note. This is a nice choice for a party or meatloaf/burger night. It goes down easy on the palate and on the wallet. Drink over the next few years.
