This is made from the Rubin grape which was created in 1944 through cross-breeding of Syrah & Nebbiolo. It is one of the more popular red grapes grown in Bulgaria. Ruby in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, black cherries and cherry candy. Medium bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, this is very smooth. It has a nice complexity as it unwinds in the glass. Flavors of cherries, boysenberries and a bit of dark chocolate. Nice balance. Long finish. Very unique. This seems like it could use a few more years to mature then drink over the next ten. This will work well with roasted fowl or veggies.
