Made from the Fetească Neagră grape in Romania, this is a really interesting wine.  Ruby in color with slight browning, mostly opaque and bright.  Lovely nose with black cherries, char, some volatile acidity which really  brought out the aromatics.  Some balsamic comes up with air.  Medium to full bodied.  Lighter but non-obtrusive tannins.  On the palate, black cherry fruit with some chocolate and char and also a meaty quality.  Layers of complexity.  Good acidity.  Long finish.  The wine seems close to maturity but may benefit from further cellaring.  Either way, it should drink well for at least five to eight more years.  This will work well with roasted duck or chicken and also drinks well on its own.
