Napa Darling

My name is Taryn, I am 23 years old. I was born in Redondo Beach, CA and am just about to move back towards that area from Orange County, CA in support of my long term boyfriends career start.
I still work in Orange County for the meantime.
We are huge wine fanatics and just started recently getting serious about creating a business plan for opening up a wine bar in the South Bay within the next 2-4 years.
This website will be good for the both of us to gain some more insight and knowledge on wine and a good place to share our passion on the subject in the meantime.

A fair restaurant corkage fee is:

8-12 dollars

My wine travels have taken me to the following wine regions:

A wine bar in Yorba Linda... Bev Mo, Various Grocery stores... Haha Seriously though...No regions yet, but there will be many to come!!

What I think of the movie Sideways:

Love it Love it Love it...

My "wish list" of wines I want to acquire soon:

Soon, like.. this weekend... Franciscan Cabernet 2004, Ferrari Carrano Alexander Valley 2004, Roth 2004, Napa Cellars 2004,
BV Rutherford Napa Valley 2004, Louis Martini Napa Valley 2004...
The list goes on... Assuming I had more to spend than 20-25 dollars per bottle... There is no limit to other amazing wines I could find!

My biggest wine pet peeve:

When you go home and open up a bottle that tastes like the cork!!
Corky wine!! No good...

A tell-tale sign of a wine snob is:

The vocabulary...

The wine region I most want to visit:

Napa Valley, Bordeaux

The people with whom I most often enjoy wine:

My incredible boyfriend (who is the male version of me) I am so happy to have someone like him who shares such a strong passion for wine as I do, we are obsessed!

The best wines I have ever tasted:

Again... Franciscan Cabernet 2004, Ferrari Carrano Alexander Valley 2004, Roth 2004, Napa Cellars 2004,
BV Rutherford Napa Valley 2004, Louis Martini Napa Valley 2004...
The list goes on...

My dream wine to one day taste or own:

I can't name a specific brand but I do know it would be a full bodied smooth, dry cabernet. Preferrably Napa.

My favorite wine quote:

Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance. ~ Benjamin Franklin

The last wine I had that I absolutely loved:

Napa Cellars on Saturday night.

My thoughts on the 100 point rating scale made famous by Robert Parker and emulated by seemingly everyone:

That rating scale is good for some I suppose.. but during one of weekend costco shopping trips, my boyfriend and I learned that it wasn't always an accurate scale for people like us who are partial to dry wines to be going off of. The wine expert there that day explained to us that the scale was based off of someone who preferred sweeter wines so we might not be able to base our opinion off of the rating... Point taken... It's nice to have a point system to go off of when you are taking a chance on something you haven't tried, but it isn't always accurate according to everyones taste.
