Tasting Notes:
Merge/Founded in 1997 by vintner und marketing genius Baron Philippe de Rothschild using French Bordeaux vine stocks, a blend of Chilean terrior with classic French technique, in an otherwise low price wine, except for the absolute stand up quality of e balanced wine product. Soft Cab & Merlot respectability in a inexpensive product from 11,200 acres of heaven in the Maipo Valley, Chile. A winery founded in 1883, along with a history of some 500 years of vinification in Chile and almost 3,000 generations of vintner's art and history of France, is terrior merge with magical craft by Baron Rothschild. Yeah, ist low price, yes, but don't confuse relating that to the product in this 1.5L bottle at $10.99 U.S. Very respectable and many times unflinchingly served this to anyone, it is classic Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, or Pauillac, et al, a solid monobloc of French Bordeaux with dusty attic French airs, deep full weight blackened plum solid Cab-Merlot blend, soft lingering finish. Ja, maybe too one dimensional, no highpoint spice notes, nah, but so many Medocs really are that way, and that is expected and what they are. Practical and honest as can be is this.
I would serve this wine for:
Any guest at any occasion, and have for fund raisers, and most certainly for Gen-Xers that wouldn't care to know a Bordeaux from a Shiner Bock, but they will enjoy.
I shared this wine with:
Family, friends, associates and various gentrified troublemakers.
The nose on this wine reminds me of:
Checking out the old steamer trunk in Grandma's attic; el dusto.
This wine would pair well with the following foods:
All red meat dishes, Italiano or otherwise.
I think this wine is priced:
Fairly shocking low. .do not pass up because of lower shelf status.
If I have any gripe with this wine, it's that:
People tend to ignore true value like this because ist not in the price range of their Chateau La Becasse Pauillac at $44?
