A good showing for this wine which seems to be just about at peak. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is dusty with black raspberries, chocolate, char and spice. Full bodied. Medium to firm tannins. On the palate, flavors of black raspberries with spice and char. Long finish. This won't get better but one should still have another five to eight years (based on this bottle) before it starts going downhill. it is nice on its own but probably better with food. It would go nicely with Indian cuisine.
This is from golfer Greg Norman's wines releases under his name, this time from Paso Robles, California. The vineyard is/was part of the Penfold's California vineyards. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, sandalwood, dried berries, and black pepper. Nice texture. Light tannins. On the palate, this is past prime but still with something to offer. Black raspberry fruit, dried fruits, slight prune and black pepper. Good finish. Drink up. It would be better with food. Grilled meats would be a good pairing.
This is one of the best values in Syrah. It is also one of the best Syrahs. it ages so beautifully, it is a pleasure to drink one at age 18. Perfectly mature but not showing any age. On the palate, this is complex and layered. Lovely texture. Flavors of black raspberries with some black pepper and char. Long finish. great on its own but perfect with dinner.
