This is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the state of Maryland. Enrique and Felipe Pallares, originally from Ecuador, founded this winery in 2017. Good wines are being made all over these days. Garnet in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose is very earthy with a bit of barnyard, but also tobacco, dried cherries and black cherries. On the palate, there is some Brettanomyces. Not off putting but noticeable. There is also some black cherry fruit and underlying forest floor. There is some complexity here. Always a great night when drinking this wine. Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is classic with cassis, sandalwood, slight cedar, baking spices, and slight char. Full bodied. Tannins are mostly integrated but a few remain. The texture is beautiful. Almost seamless. great balance. On the palate, this is delicious. Mature but plenty of life left. Notes of cassis, plums with underlying char. Long finish. Complex, it unwinds in the glass. This is wonderful on its own, and will work well with bigger foods. This bottle was opened and allowed to breathe for 30 minutes. Great showing. At age 17, this is just getting to peak and really firing on all cylinders. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is impressive with cassis, leather, slight damp earth, graphite and char. Complex and deep. It makes you take notice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Seamless texture. On the palate, cassis, plums with char. Complex and layered. Long finish. Delicious. This is fantastic on its own and will work well with all sorts of meat dishes.
