As Pinot Noir goes, this is quite simply a very pretty wine. Sure, that’s not the sort of descriptor that most reviews use, but it is accurate. Subtle, soft, almost subversive, this is a Pinot that doesn’t announce itself, it doesn’t brag, it simply waits in the glass for you to try it. There is noticeable but subdued fruit; black cherry, pomegranate, Rainer cherry, light strawberry, pomegranate but they are wonderfully melded together so that nothing stands out – except for the quality of the wine in your glass at that moment.
This is 100% Pinot Noir from Oregon. It spends ten months in oak. In terms of style it is a bit on the bigger style (for Oregon). Medium ruby in color with some purple hues, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, black raspberries, sandalwood and slight char. Medium to full bodied. Nice juicy texture. Good acidity. Medium tannins come out with air. On the palate, cherries and black cherries and slight black raspberries. Long finish with slight warmth. This needs some time and will almost certainly improve with good cellaring. Perhaps the best Merlot made in America. This is drinking great right now, at or near peak. Purple in color, thin ruby line at the rim. The nose is great with coffee, cherries, black cherries, and spice. On the palate, this has a wonderful texture. Rich and luxurious. Slight tannins. Black cherry fruit. Long finish. This is deep and voluptuous with lots of complexity. This should be here for a while (ten years?) and still last another decade after that.
