Another winner from de Negoce. While this wine will undoubtedly get better and mature over time, this drinks nicely now and for the money, it is hard not to open a bottle now. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has boysenberries, char, and slight spice. Full bodied. Deep. Tight. On the palate, this took an hour or three to really open. A decant would be a good idea. Very tasty with boysenberry fruit and underlying char. Not crazy wild but not shy either. Very nice on its own, but this will work well with a burger or other foods off the grill. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.

This bottle was singing with a little air. Inky purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has boysenberries, a touch of char with an earthy note and a slight menthol note on the back end. Full bodied with a great texture. The palate has boysenberry fruit and black pepper with underlying char. deep yet already accessible. This is a big hearty wine but compared to prior vintages this seems to be maturing, or at least opening, a bit faster. Nothing wrong with that especially for Petite. Delicious. Obviously way too young, but, this was open and delicious. For about an hour or so, and then shut down tight. We recorked and sampled over the next couple nights. Day 2. Still shut down. Day 3. Drinking well and the bottle was drained. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has boysenberries, gravel, char and spice. Thick tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, loads of boysenberry fruit with underlying char. Deep but like looking into a bottomless hole. Long finish. Not sorry to have tried it, but the remaining bottles will need a rest. This is a nice tale on Petite Sirah made from Howell Mountain grapes. It is quite intense and will need some cellar time to reach full potential. Inky purple in color. Opaque and bright. The nose is tight but has boysenberries, slight pencil lead and slight gravel notes. On the palate, firm tannins. Boysenberry fruit. Very tightly packed. Persistent finish. It is quite tasty but clearly will have more to offer in five to ten years. It should be best in seven to fifteen or so years. This will drink better with food such as roasts, stews and casseroles. The cork crumbled on opening and the wine was decanted. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has boysenberries, char, slight ink scent and a bit of blueberries. Full bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, the blueberries are more pronounced and plenty of boysenberries with underlying char. Still has youthful energy. Good finish. This is drinking well now but still young. No harm opening or letting it age another ten to fifteen years. It probably won't get much better. It will work well with pizza, burger but also roasts and grilled foods.

Pallisades is one of the great Petite Sirah vineyards and Carlisle really nailed it with the 2016 vintage. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with boysenberries, gravel, blueberries and spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. Boysenberries, black cherries, blueberries with underlying gravel. Clean. Long finish. This is drinking well now but still young and may improve. Drink over the next fifteen years. Nice on its own, this would work well with grilled meats.
