The Vibe:

Silicon Valley tech companies often start in the garage so why can't a winery? Porter Creek's tasting room is literally a converted old farmhouse garage. Nothing pretentious here, just a small winery committed to making wine and just wine.

Wine snobs in need of the lavish trappings associated with million dollar tasting rooms should stay at home. Wine lovers looking to taste some interesting wines should mark this on the map.

Known For:
Pinot Noir, Carignane, Viognier
Not good for:
  • Anything elegant.
  • Picnics of any sort.
  • Large groups or busses. 10 or more people at one time should definately call ahead.
  • Event hosting.
  • Food and wine pairing.
  • Anything visual. There are no manicured gardens or stone walled tasting rooms here. The surrounding view of the rolling vineyards though is quite nice.
Particularly good if you are seeking:
  • Good Pinot Noir, Carignane, and Viognier.
  • A bare bones, no pretense, old school, whatever you want to call it, tasting experience. Porter Creek's tasting room is a converted garage and in no way is designed to impress.
  • A dog friendly winery.
