This is drinking well and at maturity (although no hurry). Purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, iron, slight tobacco and slight iodine. Medium to full bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, this has black cherry fruit with underlying tobacco and a bit of that iron note. Good acidity. Nice finish. Drink over the next five to seven years. This will work better with food. Roasted chicken or vegetables would work well.
Bought on release ($26) and cellared well. Light ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice earthy with cherries. Hints of green tobacco drying in a barn. On the palate, black cherries and minerals with a nice, slightly bitter streak. This is at peak now and I would drink in the next few years. Complex. Food friendly. Nice showing.
A very nice Cab Franc and a nice value. Purple in color, some ruby, opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, slight cigar box, slighter bell pepper, and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Good balance. On the palate, black cherry fruit with some tobacco and slight bell pepper. Good finish. Drinking well and should continue for seven to ten years. Nice on its own, this will work well with Lamb Stew.
This is a very nice Cabernet Franc from the Napa Valley. Purple in color with some ruby hues, opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, tobacco, black pepper and slight forest floor. Full bodied. Nice, lush texture. On the palate, black cherries, spice and char, layered and deep. Great balance. Long finish. Delicious. This is one of the better California Cab Francs. Still needs another five to ten years until full mature, it will drink great over the next twenty years. Nice on its own, it will work better with food. Standing Rib Roast would be a nice match.
