White Rhone wines are such a tricky thing to age. This should have been great but alas, it wasn't. It seemed dead on opening but eventually showed a bit of life, but not what one hopes for. Deep gold in color. The nose initially offers some cider notes but with air, some wax, almonds and maybe fresh apples. Full bodied. On the palate, not much at first but with some air, a bit of citrus and slight minerals. Followed over tow hours or so, it just never really showed up. It probably would pay to open early, let it breathe and if necessary, give it a decant. If it opens up, re-cork un
This was cool to try at the winery. The bottle had been open, but refrigerated for three days. Still a vibrant green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has diesel as one might expect from a 16 year old Riesling, but also nice minerality and a hint of peach. Full bodied. A broad complexity on the palate. Minerals and slight citrus. Nice finish. Although showing some age, for those who appreciate an aged Riesling, this is drinking well. This would work well with a nice Mulligatawny soup.
Gorgeous wine. It is sweet of course, but not as sweet as expected. Golden in color. The nose is pretty with just the slightest touch of petrol. Also lots of minerality, wet stones and slight apricot. Full bodied. Viscous. Enough acidity but a bit more to counter the sweet would be nice. Still, it is a very nice wine. Went well with Halloumi cheese. Drinking well now, but it has two or three decades of life left.
Deep golden in color. The nose has a diesel note but also a honeyed quality to it. On the palate, this is sweet enough for dessert. Minerals and also some apricots. Ok aicidity. Drinking well now but with time left.
