Martijn Samsom Thinks:

A fair restaurant corkage fee is:

20 %

A tell-tale sign of a wine snob is:

Stereotypes wines by region.

The wine region I most want to visit:

Napa, Sonoma, Mendoza, Colchagua.

My "wish list" of wines I want to acquire soon:

Nothing specific other than 95+ rated wines.

My biggest wine pet peeve:

marketing makes it harder to separate the good from the bad wines

My favorite wine quote:

You will never have tasted your best wine "ever" until your are on your death bed.

My dream wine to one day taste or own:

not sure

The best wines I have ever tasted:

don't know yet

The people with whom I most often enjoy wine:

Girlfriend, friends, family.

The last wine I had that I absolutely loved:

A 2007 Gigondas I purchased at Trader Joe's.

What I think of the movie Sideways:

Great movie, purely from a cinematic standpoint.

My thoughts on the 100 point rating scale made famous by Robert Parker and emulated by seemingly everyone:

Helpful, but can never address environmental and biological variance. I believe our sense of taste - like so many biological functions - is subject to so many variables. Whether physiological, psychological or emotional, our ability to discern a flavor or taste is directly linked to too many changing variables. This doesn't even begin to encompass bottle variance or environmental conditions during storage or service of wine. Ultimately wine should be taken with a pretty significant grain of salt.

My wine travels have taken me to the following wine regions:

Mendoza, Chile, Spain, California
