I'm 25 years old, I'm originally from Wales, but the last couple of years have seen me embark on a rollercoaster ride that has taken me to living in the States, India, Italy, France and now Canada where I'm hoping to settle for a while because I'm tired.

My passions are Travel, Pugilism (boxing), Wine, Ancient Roman History, Web Design and Development (my career) and Football & Rugby.

A large reasons why I love wine is that often it combines 3 of my aforementioned favourite hobbies; wine, travel and history and that it evokes a lot of great memories of days spent living in the countryside of Lazio or Provence.

gdjones83 Thinks:

A fair restaurant corkage fee is:

$10 - $15

A tell-tale sign of a wine snob is:

When they feel they have reached the pinnacle of knoweldge and are then unwilling to try different wines from up and coming, yet less historically sophisticated areas.

The wine region I most want to visit:

I've been meaning to do California whenever I have the time and money

My "wish list" of wines I want to acquire soon:

A decent Amarone and perhaps a good Muscato d'Asti for special occasions. Also I can't seem to get enough of St. Emillion or good Haut-Médoc, Barbera d'Albi and Nero d'Avola are some of my less expensive favourites from Italy

My biggest wine pet peeve:

I have issues with particularly green Sauvignon Blancs

My dream wine to one day taste or own:

A decent Amarone

The best wines I have ever tasted:

St. Emillion, Barbera d'Albi

The people with whom I most often enjoy wine:

I enjoy people who have a decent knowledge base and strong opinions, anyone that I can listen and pick something up from really

The last wine I had that I absolutely loved:

Haut-Médoc at about 1am in a restaurant in Paris

What I think of the movie Sideways:

It was quite enjoyable, I'm still a fan of merlot though.

My thoughts on the 100 point rating scale made famous by Robert Parker and emulated by seemingly everyone:

It's a good measuring stick to how good a wine is but always keep in mind that your palette is not going to be identical to anyone elses so all ratings must be taken with a pinch of salt.

My wine travels have taken me to the following wine regions:

France - Provence, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Loire Valley & Rhone.
Italy - Toscana, Latium, Campania & Veneto
