djmutex Thinks:

A fair restaurant corkage fee is:

10-25

The wine region I most want to visit:

Piemonte.

My "wish list" of wines I want to acquire soon:

'82 Gaja Barbaresco, '82, '89 Cavallotto Bricco Boschis Riserva, '90 Sori Paitin Barbaresco, Boncompagni Ludovisi Fiorano Semillon

My biggest wine pet peeve:

Jammy, sweet, unharmonious wines that spoil immediately due to having no structure.

My favorite wine quote:

"We thought you would like a taste of this '68 Merlot. We've all been sharing the glass and passing it around... but we're all good people, no germs." Also... "This taste is nothing but sediment and we wouldn't normally serve this to you but we thought you might like to try for a little bit of the character of this one."

My dream wine to one day taste or own:

A '66 Latour with a nice neck high fill, '45 Mouton but that is stretching it, '59 Bollinger or some other amazing bubbly, an old Prosecco or Pavi, vintage Giacosa Riserva Barbaresco.

The best wines I have ever tasted:

'94-96 Ducru Beaucaillou, '90 Opus One, '89-93 Boncompagni Ludovisi Fiorano, '82 Cavallotto Bricco Boschis Riserva, '89 Francesco Rinaldi & Figli, '66 Ribolla Gialla Movia "Moon", '68 Merlot Movia, '65 Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Riserva, '70 Tenute Colue, '90 Cannalicchio di Sopra Riserva Brunello, '01 Sori Paitin Barbaresco, '06 Domaine Moillard, '01 LeRoy Bourgogne Rouge

The people with whom I most often enjoy wine:

Oliveto regulars and staff. Marco Mirenzi. Jen Lampton. Terbo Ted. My father.

The last wine I had that I absolutely loved:

2001 Sori Paitin Barbaresco.

What I think of the movie Sideways:

Charming. I like some central coast wines. I found it funny that so many people have the same taste: hate bad chard, love reds, some syrah, some riesling too. *snicker*

My thoughts on the 100 point rating scale made famous by Robert Parker and emulated by seemingly everyone:

It's better than the Michelin three star scale. *snicker*

My wine travels have taken me to the following wine regions:

Napa, Sonoma, Germany (multiple areas), Austria, Val d'Aosta, Australia
