Tasting Notes for Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel Zinfandel 2007
by gtv_john
Wine Tasted:
Ancient Vines Zinfandel from Cline's wide selection of historic Zin vineyards located e Contra Costa County, California more than 100 years old. That be ancient, yes? And a fine effort & source it is.
Initial whiffs green juneberry and petrol rusty resin from a Fiat 500 or Dirty Kiwi fruits, woody stem and punctuation pucker. But when opened ist morphs into soft kirsch liqueur, slight pepper box, and ist much much more agreeable and quite civilized Bing cherry notes to almost raspberry sweetness. Slide into soft home plate and quite civilized finish. Must have time to open 2 heures at very minimal, o thou of impatience . ..which leads one to believe has some 5-10 year age potential...and look for magnums, ja?
I would serve this wine for:
I also picked up the 3 liter version and will hold for 3 years before opening.
I shared this wine with:
Black cat Taj.
The nose on this wine reminds me of:
Heavy duty kirsch and Juneberry.
This wine would pair well with the following foods:
Whatever
I think this wine is priced:
Really great value for taste delivery.
If I have any gripe with this wine, it's that:
